NVQs in Engineering and Manufacturing
A range of pathways are available to suit the needs of your organisation in both engineering and manufacturing :
Mechanical Manufacture
Fabrication and Welding
Maintenance
Technical Support
Electrical Panel Building.
Performing Manufacturing Operations - Level 2 only
Performing Engineering Operations - Level 2 only.
Within each pathway are a number of NVQs that you can choose from to make sure that the qualification fits to the learners job role in a precise way.
Most NVQs are available at Level 2 and Level 3
Level 2 is suitable for people complete routine job roles where the scope for decision making is limited. This would suit a semi-skilled job role.
Level 3 is suitable for people working in more complex job roles, working with SOPs and Policies, taking responsibility for workflow, decision making and working in a range of conditions. This would suit a fuly skilled job role.
Each NVQ will consist of a number of units which depict specific activities within a role.
Achievement of each unit will require the learner to demonstrate competence in the workplace against a range of performance criteria for each unit. They will also have to demonstrate through questionning that they have the required level of knowledge and understanding with which to carry out their duties in an efficient and effective way
NVQs as a stand alone qualification are not available for those under the age of 24 years - these groups would have to particiapte in an Apprenticeship Programme
For learners aged 25 years plus, Train to Gain funding may be available to fund the entire cost of a level 2 award, with free 20 hours of training.
